The Glad Cafe

The Glad Cafe is the welcoming social hub, cafe and music venue of Glasgow's Southside community. By day, the spacious, modern and brightly decorated cafe serves up a selection of freshly prepared seasonal dishes, roasted Dear Green coffee and a delicious array of home baking and pastries by Big Bear Bakery. By night, it offers a variety of tasty sharing platters and has a fully stocked bar filled with wines, beers and a thirst-quenching selection of San Pelligrino and Fentiman's soft drinks.

The Glad Cafe is also a creative venue providing an intimate and eclectic surrounding for gigs and film screenings. It is renowned for welcoming in a wide range of up-and-coming musicians from genres such as indie, electronic, traditional and world, and also hosts various arts based events including exhibitions and poetry readings. The Glad Cafe is a social enterprise which eventually aims to plough its profits into affordable music lessons for local people, and offers a voluntary program for young people looking for valuable work experience and a place to gather skills and knowledge in the hospitality sector. An essential part of the Southside community, where you can drop in for a morning pastry and a coffee, share a tasty dinner platter and a bottle of wine with mates during the evening, pop along to one of The Glad Cafe's regular gigs to witness some home grown local talent in a special Glasgow bar.
