ROOF GARDENS COMEDY FESTIVAL 2016
Sunday 26th June
Bring on the sunshine 100ft above the London streets and join us for a truly unique blend of award-winning laugh out loud comedy coupled with beautiful cocktails, outdoor garden games and outstanding summer BBQ food...
After previously hosting huge comedy names such as Katherine Ryan, Doc Brown, Nick Helm, Joe Lycett and Kerry Godliman to our comedy stage, we're delighted to present an equally amazing line-up for 2016. The festival is an incredible opportunity to preview some exclusive Edinburgh Fringe material from a selection of the UK's very best comedians, performing across two stages in the magical setting of the Roof Gardens.
We're so excited to present to you our line-up for 2016, packed with award-winners, featuring...
KATY BRAND
Katy Brand: I Was A Teenage Christian - work in progress...
"One Sunday, aged 13, Katy Brand went to a local church service and became a fundamentalist Christian. From then on she attended church four times a week. For seven years she put the 'fun' into fundamentalism. And the 'mental'. She was obnoxious & self-important, but at least she knew she was going to heaven. Now she's not so sure. Katy will relive her glory days of certainty and judgement, whilst trying to figure out what the hell was going on in her own head."
'An infectious sense of fun' - The Guardian
MATT FORDE
Following his sell-out Edinburgh 2014 run Matt Forde is now widely acknowledged as the country’s leading political comedian. He'll be bringing his razor-sharp wit in abundance which has graced such stages as Have I Got News For You (BBC) and fueled the writing of massive hit shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Russell Howards Good News (BBC) and Stand Up For The Week (Channel 4).
"Forde is a first-class comic..." - The Guardian
"Manages to combine infectious enthusiasm and gleeful giggling with astutely well-informed political opinions" - Three Weeks ★★★★★
ZOE LYONS
Zoe took her first steps down the comedy path in 2003 after training as an actress at the Poor School in London. She went on to win the Funny Women Competition in 2004 and her debut Edinburgh show was nominated for the if.comedy newcomer award. In 2008 she won the Dave, Funniest Joke of The Fringe Award.
"Always fizzling with indignation and throwing out a hugely enjoyable mix of brutal putdowns and richly funny stories, Lyons has what it takes to delight any crowd." - The Guardian
"Lyons lit up the stage for an hour with her genuine, bitchy sarcastic humour that left everyone in stitches. I don't think I have laughed so hard at a stand-up show in my life." - Edinburghguide.com
"Probably the most impressive British female comic on the circuit." - The Skinny, Edinburgh
PAUL MCCAFFREY
Paul McCaffrey has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts around, winning both The London Paper and the Latitude Festival new act competitions in 2009. In 2011 Paul took his debut solo stand-up show, Saying Something Stupid to the Underbelly, to great critical acclaim, having previously appeared as part of the Big Value Comedy Show and the AAA Stand-Up Show at The Pleasance.
Paul has been heard on Russell Kane’s Whistle-Stop Tour (BBC Radio 2) and is a regular guest on The Matt Forde Show (talkSPORT). He has also done studio warm-up for The Morgana Show (Channel 4) and That Sunday Night Show (ITV 1) and can currently be seen at some of the best comedy clubs in the country.
Paul has recently appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and appears alongside Joel Dommett, Marek Larwood, and Roisin Conaty on BBC 3's Impractical Jokers.
SEAN MCLOUGHLIN
Hailing from Brighton, Sean McLoughlin has performed at gigs of all sizes right across the U.K. and internationally, from the big weekend clubs to the smaller independents and universities.
In the last couple of years he has performed at the Cat Laughs Festival in Kilkenny, The Vodafone Comedy Festival in Dublin and performed shows in Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland. He has also supported the brilliant Doc Brown and Katherine Ryan on tour, and made an appearance on Russell Howard’s Stand-Up Central on Comedy Central.
He's played the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for many years, and performed his debut hour-long show ‘Backbone’ there in 2013, with follow-up new material appearances in 2014 and 2015.
