The Well is a charming gastropub and cocktail bar in Clerkenwell. Easily reached from Farringdon, Barbican and Angel stations, the venue encompasses a welcoming ground floor pub as well as a cosy downstairs cocktail den that instantly puts one at ease.
A quick browse of the menus reveals this place is no ordinary eatery. With exquisitely presented dishes like the Suffolk baby chicken and Peterhead cod fillet lining up next to slow braised Cumbrian veal cheek, you'll saunter out of The Well only after you've eaten like a King. Drop in on Sunday to tuck into an indulgent brunch / lunch offering that rivals even your nan's masterful cooking, and there's plenty of options to wash this seasonal British fare down with too.
Plenty of beers and cocktails are included in a strong line up, which is perhaps overshadowed by the strength of the wine list. There's a healthy French contingent, plenty from Europe at large and a neat selection of champagnes if you're celebrating.
