Description
Sitting right on the edge of Hampstead Heath, The Magdala is the perfect venue to head to for some cool beers and comforting food at the end of a chilled walk. It's got a slightly gruesome but interesting history as Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in the UK, shot her lover outside the pub and the bullet holes can still be seen in the walls!
However, nowadays The Magdala is more likely to be host to friendly locals looking for wholesome and locally sourced food made freshly on the premises. The cuisine is modern British and European with a great snack and lunchtime menu as well as a top notch Sunday roast. There's also a great selection of beers, wines, spirits and a choice of British guest ales that change weekly.
Home to an intimate dining room for smaller groups, another more bright and airy dining space, a cosy fireplace, a comfy sofa-filled drinking area and a candlelit outdoor area, there'll be somewhere to rest your legs no matter what your mood. Also look out for their fortnightly quiz nights, monthly Funny Friday comedy nights and one-off live music and spoken poetry events.
