The Star

Slight hiding away amongst the backstreets of Highgate, The Star is arguably one of its hidden gems and is better known to its locals than to those who may be travelling in the area. Quiet, cosy and intimate is usually what to expect here but with its series of occasional events and live music every thursday, it nevertheless retains a vibrant atmosphere. And, as it's one of the only pubs in the area without much competition, it manages to receive regular artists through its doors. Enjoying a detailed and well-crafted wine list, which is also quite large, it's one of the many features that distinguish it from your run-of-the mill pub., whilst still serving a number of international beers on tap and a large selection of spirits. It has an interesting and varied food selection that isn't your conventional pub food assortment, offering a wide range of starters, mains and desserts that include chicken liver paté and poached salmon. However if do you want a classic meal, dishes such as burger and chips are also on the menu. They also have a separate room for private events from dinner parties, corporate events or just an informal gathering that are all possible, and can have the option of tailor-made meals from the head chef.

One of the only pubs in the area to not be part of a chain, it's a refreshing environment to come across, whose charm and individuality will surely sway most of its visitors.
