You’ll notice a real private members feel to this chic basement bar tucked away on Grove Street. Fronting an eclectic mix of Victorian, Louis IV and Renaissance-influenced interiors, Opium is an exclusive watering hole with bundles of quirky personality.
It opens from 5pm, and is a fantastic after-work hideaway where the cocktails flow. Plot a way through a range of both classics and in-house specialties, with a choice of hand-picked wines and craft beers on call if you’d prefer. The guys here operate with a ‘Boston-style’ approach to bar-keeping, and the effort to form a personal bond with guests is noticeable.
There’s a Secret Room for intimate gatherings for up to 25, and a late licence that extends to 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
