A beach bar with tons of golden sand; three fishing boats; a palm-thatched roof and serious cocktails. This is The Goring, London, SW1 in the summer of 2011. Basil's Bar is the social epicentre of Mustique, perched on stilts over the water with drop-dead views of the Caribbean, and is possibly the most famous bar in the world. Luckily this summer Londoners wont have to take any flights at all to experience some of Basils laid-back hospitality. The bar, on a beach with a huge polished driftwood counter, will open in June. The interior of the bar, whilst inspired by Basils, will be given some quirky touches of its own by The Gorings interior designer, Russell Sage. The ambiance in this beach bar will have just a touch of urban cool. The Gorings barmen will be instructed by Basil on how to make his favourite cocktails including the Mustique Mule, the Hurricane David and Basils Rum Punch. All served with a smile and guaranteed to make the sun shine permanently in SW1. Basil himself will be in London for a few weeks in June and the party will continue at The Beach Bar at The Goring until September.
