If there’s one thing 2020 has made us appreciate? It’s the humble beer garden. Whether you’re stopping by for a pint in the sun or to cosy up by a heater with a glass of mulled wine, there’s nothing quite like the alfresco experience. So it's good news for Belfast as this huge outdoor venue has just reopened, fresh from a winter makeover and ready for socially-distanced fun.
CARGO by Vertigo is the swish spot that’s relaunched in the heart of Cathedral Quarter. Originally opening its doors in the summer, but swiftly having to close due to further lockdowns, the venue's transformation includes cosy fire pits, private gondolas and (thankfully) rain-proof tents.
The menu is made up of classic burgers, stone-baked pizzas and seasonal specials, which include turkey-topped slices and a footlong Christmas hotdog, garnished with bacon, cheese and a whole lotta stuffing. Behind the bar you'll find bottles of bubbles, along with festive-themed cocktails and steaming mugs of mulled wine.
Maybe Christmas isn’t cancelled after all?
