What they say:
Famous piemaker Mad O'Rourke's is shifting its gaze away from all things shortcrust for a brief period, instead focusing on opening a micro-brewery in Digbeth. Based on the banks of the River Rea, Dig Brew Co will serve its guests a range of freshly made beers and cask ales, all concocted in the venue's very own brewery. There'll be five huge tanks visible underneath the bar alongside a collection of stored casks in the venue's own cold room. Of course, with the Mad O'Rourke's name attached to everything that happens here, the venue will serve the entire 15-pie strong collection of dishes to its guests.
What we say:
Mad O'Rourke's owner, Peter Towler, is clearly a man that likes to have his fingers in a lot of pies. Unsatisfied with his culinary empire and looking to branch out further, he's teamed up with cocktail expert Oliver Webb for this venture. His collection of pies will prop up the venue, but it's the craft beers and homemade ales that really excite us. Cutting out the packaging process and serving pints directly from the tank will mean that its patrons are drinking the freshest beers and ales in the entire city. And, of course, the two partners couldn't have found a better location than this riverside plot. We think they're onto something special here.
