You've had a serious schmooze around the Custard Factory's cool independents. Your bags are lagging with unique wares, top notch vintage treats and collectible records. But slap my thigh and call me sally, where can we get a drink in this joint? Whilst Digbeth is a delicious den of supping spots, from Spotlight and Fazeley Social to The Old Crown, some might say that it's the Custard Factor that has been lacking a cool plot for into the evening entertainment and tipples. Until now. You saw that coming didn't you.
Opening this May 23rd in what was once known as 78 Bar, the Custard Factory's courtyard has a new liquid hound in town as Alfie Bird's opens to an expectant crowd of Digbeth denizens. Set to boast a bar toting its own gourmet pizzeria, a lush loft bar and cocktail lounge, and music venue The Oobleck to boot, Alfie Bird's are packing more heat than Bruce Willis. But how's about that 'divinely absurd' shindig? Here's what the line-up is set to include:
- May 23rd: A sing-a-long from Moselele and live comedy from the heralded Barbare Nice of Phoenix Nights.
- May 24th: Jam Hott presents Soundwave festival launch party with Scratch Perverts and live music from Swim Deep.
- May 25th: Chick Dig Jerks present Felix Martin from Hot Chip for a DJ set.
With this upcoming party and what looks to be a wholly sought after selection of entertainment in store, we've got high hopes for a venue like Alfie Bird's. Here's to bringing back a little liquid fare and party attitude to the Custard Factory.
