We all know that Birmingham Street Food has truly come into its own this past year, more than proving itself on the tasty scales, but did you ever imagine that those foodie folks at both Brum Yum Yum and Digbeth Dining Club were to be competitors in a pretty cool award category, pipping themselves against some of the biggest street food events in Europe? We sure did, because they rock.
A street food institution that has championed street grub, street events and street antics the like since 2009, British Street Food are 'working for the street food revolution', with their annual awards a showcase for all that wait for it....street food talent. Judged by TV presenter Fay Ripley, Pitt Cue Co's Simon Anderson and Esquire food editor Tom Parker Bowles, 2013's British Street Food Awards have introduced three new categories, with Birmingham more than stealing the show in one of them.
Up for the 'Best Street Food Event', both Brum Yum Yum and Digbeth Dining Club have made their way to the final three, proving that Birmingham can more that hold its own on the European Street Food Scene. Found this weekend at the urban playground that is Dalston Yard in London, the British Street Food Awards are set to be a flavoursome frolic and exciting level of exposure for the cities favourite street vendors. Good luck to our tasty Brummie chums and check back for the award winner next week.....
FANCY THAT! Birmingham's very own Digbeth Dining Club took home the gong this weekend and we couldn't be prouder! Congratulations to everyone behind the Digbeth Dining Club crew!
