Big Mamma Group Promise Giant Lemon Meringue Pies & Quirky Look At New Venue La Bellezza Birmingham

Interiors at La Bellezza in Lille, France.

The new Big Mamma restaurant in Birmingham is inspired by its namesake in Lille.

With restaurants everywhere from Monaco to Madrid, Big Mamma Group have taken Europe by storm, and they've got five different locations in the UK. You'll find the colourful and quirky Circolo PopolareJacuzziAve MarioGloria and Carlotta in London, boasting whacky decor like Roman statues and glowing staircases. But why should Londoners have all the fun?

Set to open in late 2024, La Bellezza Birmingham is coming to Chamberlain Square - the UK's first site outside of London (though Manchester plans are in the works too). The original La Bellezza can be found in Old Lille in France, filled with eccentric ornaments and rustic decor, and there'll be similar vibes at its new Birmingham spot. This will be in place of Vinoteca, which closed in May.

The 150-cover trattoria promises all the unique features of a Big Mamma Group restaurant that we know and love, including a gorgeous outdoor terrace for the summer months. According to the hugely successful group, their main goal is 'to bring to life the warmth and generosity of those little trattorias you find hidden throughout Italy'.

The menus at all their locations change regularly, but you'll find plenty of the indulgent, over-the-top classics at La Bellezza - with ingredients sourced from over 150 Italian artisan producers. Think fresh pasta served in a cheese wheel and topped with 22-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano DOP from Paolo Gennari, authentic Neapolitan pizzas and, of course, those signature huge slices of lemon meringue pie.
