Orelle

You'll find Orelle on the 24th floor of 103 Colmore - the tallest building in the city. Not only will you get to enjoy stunning views of Birmingham while you dine, but the venue itself it pretty gorgeous too - think marble floors, bright orange booths and a bar that's covered in greenery. They've got both a la carte and set menus to choose from here (offering three courses for £35), with dishes ranging from cured salmon ballotine to beetroot brined pork and celeriac risotto.

Gaucho Birmingham

Located close to Cathedral Square, Gaucho is a central spot for fine dining with a Latin American twist. They're best known for their Argentinian steaks, which are 100% carbon neutral and contribute to reforestation projects in the Amazon. They also offer dishes like dry-rubbed spatchcock chicken, wagyu burgers and barbecue miso aubergine, with an impressive selection of wines and cocktails to boot. As for the interiors? Expect plush leather seating, pretty fairy lights wrapped around wooden beams and shelves stacked with premium bottles of wine.

Lasan – St Paul’s Square

Having served the Jewellery Quarter area since 2002, Lasan is an elegant restaurant filled with leather seating, quirky patterned walls and huge mirrors. It was awarded Gordon Ramsay's 'Best Local Restaurant' in 2013, and since then it's continued to showcase high-end Indian dining. Their affordable a la carte menu includes dishes like paneer tikka, Bihari beef kebabs and Bombay pepper aloo, or you can treat yourself to a six-course tasting menu for £79 instead.

Tattu Birmingham

You'll want to take pictures of Tattu Birmingham's stunning interiors as soon as you walk through the door and are met with the overarching, illuminated cherry blossom tree. This modern Chinese restaurant has it all, in its design (think marble floors and dark wooden panelling) and delicious dishes. Taste of Tattu is a two or three-course set menu that offers diners a tour of crowd pleasers like Wok Fired Angry Bird (chicken, roasted chilli peppers and cashews), and Kung Po Tofu, whereas its a la carte features decadent delights like Shanghai black cod, black pepper beef fillet and Asian pear sticky toffee pudding.

Restaurant Folium

You'll find Restaurant Foilum just off of St Paul's Square, fronting minimal interiors to mirror its modern approach to British cuisine. It opened in 2017 and is co-owned and run by Ben Tesh alongside his partner Lucy Hanlon. Together, they source ingredients from sustainable and ethical suppliers to create innovative plates of food. You can look forward to devouring dishes such as chicken liver with burnt opinion, mock oyster, warm savoury custard with roast chicken broth and Wiltshire truffle, then finish with the likes of frozen English yuzu with marshmallow.

Opheem

If Michelin-starred Indian fine dining in the heart of Birmingham is what you're after then Opheem can provide. Ran and overseen by Aktar Islam, the pretty space features twinkly light fixtures and a forming dining room with cool, grey interiors. Here, a team of talented chefs push the boundaries of traditional Indian cuisine by adopting global cooking techniques, offering five or ten-course tasting menus alongside a divine a la carte. Tempt your tastebuds with Herdwick lamb cutlet, smoked aubergine and shami kebab, or day boat fish alongside seasonal greens, raw mango and coconut, then end with sheep's mil yoghurt, pistachio and green chilli.

The Wilderness

If you're looking for Birmingham fine dining restaurants that celebrate the local area, The Wilderness is just the place for you. This enticing space can be found on Warstone Lane, with sultry black interiors and an open kitchen at the back. Escape from the hustle and bustle of city life with a refined meal in the stylish spot - where they offer a four-course tasting menu for £125 per person, featuring the likes of smoked Anjou pigeon, smoked butter-coated leeks, glazed Iberico pork collar and much more.

Purnell's

Awarded a Michelin Star in 2009, Purnell's is one of the most luxurious restaurants in the city, situated in a Victorian redbrick building on Cornwall Street. Chef Glynn Purnell, who holds a Michelin Star of his own too, with years of gourmet cooking experience that's led him here. Their eight-course tasting menu comes in at £135 per person, featuring everything from ceviche of Orkney scallop to Lake District Hogget with smoked aubergine, or you can tuck into small tapas-style plates as well.

Adam's

One of the best fine dining restaurants in Birmingham city centre, Adam's is the Michelin star venue run by chef Adam Stokes. The decor here is a mix of Art Deco and retro styling, with both an elegant cocktail bar and a swish, dimly-lit dining room to choose from. They offer multi-course lunches from £60 per person, as well as a la carte dinners and five or seven-course tasting menus in the evening. Dishes change on a regular basis, but you can expect the likes of Orkney scallops, rabbit served with langoustines and wasabi or aged beef coated with truffle.

The Ivy Temple Row

For sophisticated dining overlooking St Phillip's Cathedral, head to The Ivy Temple Row and tuck into brasserie classics and Asian-inspired plates. A celebrity hotspot in its own right, it features luxurious decor in the form of bird-themed printed wallpaper, golden light fixtures and rich, burnt orange booths. Grab a £19.17 set menu throughout the week from 11.30am onwards, featuring signature dishes like shepherd's pie or grilled chicken salad, or check out the a la carte for a tempting steak offering, blackened cod fillet, and chargrilled halloumi with oxheart tomatoes. 

Noel's Bar & Restaurant

Inspired by the Mediterranean, Noel's Bar & Restaurant serves indulgent pasta dishes that are made fresh every morning, paired with charcoal-fired goods and fine cuts of meat from the nearby butcher Aubrey Allen. The gorgeous space is filled with beautiful floral displays and lots of pink and red touches, with a cocktail menu that's equally impressive - we recommend the lychee and coconut-infused Forbidden Forest. Even better? they offer bottomless lunch and afternoon tea here as well.

Harborne Kitchen

For a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant with a fine dining twist, you can't go wrong with a trip to Harborne Kitchen. They were featured in the Michelin Guide for 2023, as well as the Good Food Guide Awards in 2024, thanks to the creativity of Head Chef Tom Wells and his talented kitchen team. Tuck into a five-course feast for £55 or their tasting menu for £100, including the likes of herring's roe in a brown butter terrine, slat-aged Hertfordshire sirloin and hand-dived Orkney scallops.

Simpsons

Located in Edgbaston, Simpsons is one of the best luxury restaurants near Birmingham. It's held a Michelin Star since 1999, with food that's just as stunning as the Grade II-listed Georgian villa that it's housed in. Their chef-patron Andreas Antona has won Chef of the Year multiple times, and he's cooking up tasting menus for £100 or £135 per person. Tuck into the likes of Moroccan spiced lamb, heritage beetroot with wasabi and lobster ravioli - with the option to add on a wine pairing for £70 extra.

670 Grams

Named in the Michelin Guide, 670 Grams is all about impressive gastronomic delights that will please your eyes and your tastebuds. Located at The Custard Factory in Digbeth, this place pairs artisanal gin and tonic with a ten-course menu that features everything from cured Cornish cod to lamb fast dumplings and Wye Valley asparagus, all for £90 each. If you fancy a smaller six-course menu they offer that too, costing just £55 each.
