Fresh, healthy and ethical, Digbeth's newest cafe, Kanteen is the permanent iteration of last year's Another Pop-Up in Digbeth. Nestled in the heart of The Custard Factory, its an ideal brunch and lunch destination, with a unique and varied menu that runs from lamb meatball hotboxes to Clonakilty black pudding and apple on toast. More than just a new cafe, Kanteen aims to be an asset to the community, the intention being that the space can be used for community events for just the price of one member of staff, and for every hot box sold, a meal will be donated to a homeless or vulnerable person in the area.

Fast, fresh and delicious, this new addition to The Custard Factory is proving a community favourite. Kanteen started following the success of a pop-up run last year by Eastside Catering. This airy cafe has a real understanding of community, not only promising to provide meals for the homeless, but also offering its workers 10% shares in the venture. With friendly staff and delicious meat and veggie hotboxes, alongside a selection of sandwiches, snacks and coffee its no surprise that it is already becoming one of the go-to spots for local lunchers.
