In June 2023, a new law came into force in Uganda making it a crime to identify as LGBTQ.
In Uganda, if adults are convicted of participating in same-sex acts, they face life in prison. Anyone "promoting homosexuality" will face 20 years in prison. If charged with "aggravated homosexuality" they face the death penalty. You can read more about the inhumane Anti-Homosexuality Act here.
All Out is working with partners on the ground in Uganda, such as Mbarara Rise Foundation, who provide safety and shelter to LGBT+ people in need. However these organisations are also facing violence, evictions and threats.
So we're coming together for an evening of queer joy, rage and solidarity, to raise funds to cover shelter, medication, food, and mental health services to keep these vital organisations running.
There will also be some tickets on the door, but they may be standing only.
Please bring cash for the standing tickets and the home-made baked goods sale.
