What they say:
Having swapped head chef hands from Flank pop up man Tom Griffiths to Johnny Standford, Pascere is now offering up British small plates to The Lanes. The split-level restaurant is rather intimate, but there are fun touches like seating round the kitchen so you can watch the drama unfold in front of you. Channelling Brighton’s seaside location, there’s a strong blue colour scheme, with large windows allowing the natural light to flow in. Great for staring out of while seated in their cosy booths during the colder months, head outside to their large outdoor terrace when its warmer for peak-people watching visibility.
What we say:
Small plates are all the range in the UK at the moment, but Pascere plans to deliver them properly. There’s dishes like chicken croquettes with chicken skin mayonnaise, or Portland crab tart with shellfish custard, but you can also get larger dishes like roast Goosnargh duck breast and crispy duck leg with duck liver parfait. To match with the dishes, they offer up a large selection of wines offered by the glass, thanks to special preservation technology, and fresh, barista-brewed coffee if you’d like less booze.
