The Coal Shed

Those of you venturing to Brighton and looking for high-end steaks will be in for a treat with The Coal Shed, located on North Street. 

Slick yet simple, the restaurant's interiors feature rich mahogany stained furniture, sleek olive green floor tiling and soft orbs of light dangling from the ceiling. You'll find a large framed painting of a cow hung in the main dining room and an opulent-looking backlit bar serving delicious cocktails that draw inspiration from New York and London, like a Steak Washed Old Fashioned, an Airpioct and Fig Margarita or a Cocoa Negroni. 

The 142-set space from restauranteur Razak Helalt champions open-fire cooking and sees executive chef Lee Murdoch at the helm exercising a flame-based process across fine cuts of beef, meats, and hearty vegetables alongside robata, oven-cooked, fermented breads. Expect to tuck into the likes of cauliflower with shishito chilli, black sesame and green onion, Black Duroc pork chop with roasted apple, sesame purée and heritage carrots, and a signature Steakhouse Burger with a double smashed salt-aged beef patty, truffle cheese fondue and pickle, served in a milk bun.
