Description
Don't be fooled by the greasy tortilla chips, shop-bought guac and sassy tequila girls that you've experienced in recent years - that's not what Mexican dining is really about. Thankfully, Wahaca have shaken things up, delivering the vibrancy, flavours and freshness of real Mexican grub.
You'll find Wahaca's Brighton outpost on North St. This swanky, 130-cover venue has been designed by award-winning architects Softroom. Step inside and you'll immediately be teleported to the street food markets of Mexico City - expect vibrant colours and funky decor; long sharing tables, low-hanging lights and quirky tile murals.
Thomasina Miers (winner of Masterchef 2005) created Wahaca after she fell in love with the flavours of Mexico during her travels there. Consequently, the menu here delivers authentic flavours and recipes that originate from Mexico's vibrant 'street food' culture. Expect to indulge on the likes 'freshly made guac with lime juice and coriander', 'slow-cooked pork topped with a red onion relish & habanero chillies', and 'sweet potato and feta taquitos'. To wash it all down, there's plenty of classic cocktails, Mexican beers, and of course, a boatload of tequila too!
