What they say:
Welsh superstar Gareth Bale shifts focus away from his Madrid lifestyle, opening a new sports bar in his hometown of Cardiff. Elevens Bar and Grill will slide into the former bones of Dempsey's Bar on Castle Street and will hope to draw in the city's sports fans with its combination of live sport, moreish comfort food and ice-cold drinks. Details are pretty thin on the ground, but Bale has been working closely with the hospitality giant Brains to turns this idea into a reality.
What we say:
Elevens Bar and Grill is not breaking any moulds with its promise of comfort food, classic drinks and live sport. After all, every sports bar offers pretty much the same package. But there are a few things that'll undoubtedly help the venue stand on its own feet. Firstly, we couldn't have picked a more central location than Castle Street, considered by many as the beating heart of the city. Secondly, the fact that the venue is the brainchild of Wales' biggest sports star can't hurt. Though fine details are yet to be confirmed, we're expecting signed Real Madrid shirts, Welsh football memorabilia and other quirky football decorations to frame everything that goes on here.
