Festive Funfairs And Instagrammable Ice Bars: Cardiff's Winter Wonderland Is Back

Start off the Christmas season with a picture-perfect ice walk.

Back with a festive bang: Cardiff Winter Wonderland 2024 is set to take over not one, but two city centre locations.

This year, the scenic grounds of Cardiff Castle boast an undercover ice rink, as well as an impressive 150m ice walk lined with illuminated reindeer sculptures. These frosty activities cater for all, with accessible sessions on Wednesday afternoons and adorable penguin aids for younger skaters. That's not all there is to be excited about - the famous family funfair offers entertainment for all ages, alongside stunning city views from the giant wheel and a brand new Christmas tree ride. You can also find a wide selection of festive food and drink within the Castle Walls, including Christmas market classics like Yorkshire pudding wraps and toasted marshmallows.

After a jam-packed day of activities, why not chill out at one of the themed bars at City Hall Lawn? The much loved Sur La Piste, Cardiff's two-story ski lodge, is returning - boasting an outdoor roof terrace. And for something even cooler, head to the sub-zero Ice Bar, an Instagrammer's dream where absolutely everything is made of ice.

Cardiff Winter Wonderland is open from 14th November 2024 to 5th January 2025 across two locations - City Hall Lawn, CF10 3ND and Cardiff Castle Grounds, CF10 3RB. If you like this, check out our guide to Cardiff Christmas party venues and sign up to our upcoming newsletter.
