Y Plas is Cardiff University’s multi-purpose venue, and it’s a hive of activity no matter time of day you’re visiting.

Come daytime, it’s a spot to relax between lectures or get to grips with some coursework with a coffee. Students quickly fill up the mezzanine balcony and there’s a buzz as they come and go throughout the day, with lots of natural light flooding in from the glass roof and a state-of-the-art feel making it one mighty impressive space to get some work done.

And once the sun goes down? There’s a different vibe to Y Plas completely. Hard-working students make way for party-goers from both the University and beyond, as the venue hosts everything from club nights to gigs and private parties to sports club socials. If you want a club night you most likely want YOLO Wednesdays - which can get pretty messy - and there’s a whole wealth of talented artists playing live shows. Jake Bugg, Bastille and London Grammar are just three top performers to have played in the last year.
