Description
Tucked away in Cardiff's Riverside area, it's easy to miss the single door that leads up to Purple Poppadom, an award-winning restaurant specialising in nouvelle Indian cuisine.
This isn't your typical old-school curry house, Head Chef Anand George regularly mixes things up, taking traditional Indian ingredients and pairing them in fresh new ways. Seabass comes seared and in a ginger, mango and coconut sauce while the lamb shank is slow cooked and paired with a zingy mint sorbet. The lunch menu, served Tuesday - Friday from 12 to 2pm, is great for a break from work, with two courses available for £10.95.
If you can't get enough of the food, Purple Poppadom's cooking classes will enable you to live on a diet of nouvelle Indian cuisine for as long as you see fit. Offered once a month, students whip up classic dishes, have lunch cooked for them by the head chef and take home a folder of recipes.
