Description

Steeped in rich local history and a stalwart in the Grassmarket, Maggie Dickson is a pub that offers a wide range of whiskies, ales and gastro dishes. The pub itself was first opened in the 19th century and has since become a favourite spot for both locals and those visiting Edinburgh.

The name Maggie Dickinson harks back to 1724, when a local woman was hung in the Grassmarket. After first having been pronounced dead, she terrified everyone by sitting up in her coffin and returning to life. Named after this local celebrity, rumour has it that Maggie Dickinson's ghost continues to haunts this pub's cellar.

The bar itself is stocked with all your favourite beers, wines and spirits. Showcasing both local ales and a selection of single malt scotches, the bar caters for a diverse range of tastes. If you're feeling a bit peckish, the gastro-pub menu promises to save the day, serving guests a selection of classic British pub food. Think beer battered fish and chips, hearty burgers and belly-warming pies.
