Description
The Theatre Royal Bar is based on Greenside Place, just a stone's throw from the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre. Playing up the area's long ties with Edinburgh's acting community, the entire venue is decorated with huge play posters and theatre-themed furniture.
The venue itself could not look anymore traditional. Covered in flowers and hanging pots, the entrance is guarded by statues of Elizabethan trumpeters who used to announce the start of a play by playing a tune. Once inside, guests will find a cosy environment, complete with a dark mahogany bar and a bright red carpet (for obvious reasons).
The bar features the usual range of beer, local ales, fines wines and warming spirits that you'd expect to find in any traditional watering hole. Better still, the kitchen serves a variety of classic gastro pub dishes, including catch-of-the-day plates, seasoned roast dinners and sweet dessert plates.
