Mowgli is an independent Indian street food restaurant, serving authentic eats from the subcontinent. Founded in 2014 by Nisha Katona in Liverpool, the last five years have seen plenty of growth for the chain, resulting in outposts across the country… including a newbie in Edinburgh.
The restaurant's ethos is to feed guests with flavoursome tiffins in an intimate, hushed setting. While the menu hasn’t been 100% confirmed yet, it’s likely that popular dishes including the Office Worker’s Tiffin will make its way over, this particular special includes four tiers of meat, veggies and carbs chosen by the chef (as it is in India). Meanwhile, the veggie-only option, named the Indian School Tiffin, follows suit with four tiers of veg and carbs chosen by ‘mother’.
When it comes to interiors, Mowgli likes to keep things simple yet homely. Guests can gather over wooden tables, or hang from swings, under the glow of fairy lights and dangling lanterns, and the Edinburgh site is most likely to replicate this now-synonymous style of its sister sites.
