Bringing a touch of the American South to Edinburgh this summer, The Mother Superior is a new bar, restaurant and live music concept specialising in world whiskies and Louisiana soul food.
Taking its name from Trainspotting's iconic drug dealer, this Leith Walk watering hole is putting the focus on whisky, boasting as many as 800 bottles at a time. Each month between 20 and 40 of these will be available at a discount price as part of the bar's 'malt of the month' offer, making it a great way to test drive some unique drams at a fraction of their usual cost. On top of that, they'll be turning them into ice-cold slushies for the ultimate boozy summertime sips.
The Mother Superior will be offering an Americana element in the form of its edible refreshments, serving up Lousiana soul food with a 'Scottish twist' - think locally-sourced seafood given a Creole or Cajun makeover. Customers will also be able to catch some in-house entertainment as the basement space transforms into an intimate live music venue featuring busker sessions alongside jazz and funk nights.
