Gallowgate’s restaurant scene is constantly evolving, as this bar proves. Opting to avoid a name, the bar situated in the former Bairds Bar site relies on its historic location and menu of fresh food and expertly-created drinks to set themselves apart.
The menu at 226 Gallowgate includes weekend brunches of serrano ham and Manchego cheese with tomato-rubbed bread and olive oil, lunch offerings of sumptuous sarnies stuffed with roast chicken and smoked cheddar, as well as classic grilled toasties. Meanwhile, mains include fresh burgers in brioche buns, mussel stew and aubergine and sofrito filo pie to complement the bar snacks of salt beef fritters, cockle popcorn and cauliflower pakora.
They don’t stop there though, as the bar promises to be filled with art, music, food, drink and good times. This will be aided by the menu of hand-crafted cocktails such as Sex on the Green, the Ballroom Spitz and expertly-curated selection of beer, wine and spirits.
