Sounding more like a swish hotel bar than, The Berkeley Suite is far too swanky to be called a club. A sister venue to secret bar Chinaski's, the doors stay open late and the decks play host to some killer DJs, but this City Centre bar is so much more than a sweaty dancefloor and an awesome soundsystem. The interior is stunning; an art deco drinking den meets vaudeville theatre (with a little bit of Mulholland Drive trippiness too) deep red tones, velvet dancehall chairs and plush booths, candelabra lighting, parquet flooring, a marble staircase and Edwardian style tiles.
The opulent speakeasy surroundings attract an astute crowd, on the hunt for a little debauchery, but its the music that takes centre stage, with the venue being renowned for programming some of the most cutting edge DJs, who churn out all manner of electronica, disco, punk, house and techno on a weekly basis. A versatile venue, never low on the listings front, The Berkeley Suite is a real Glaswegian gem.
