We've got a big ol' summer ahead of us Glasgow: we've had enough sporting activity to shake a red card at, and we pretty much drank our body weight in whisky during Homecoming - now, it's time for a sweet infusion of music and culture into our match-ridden membranes. Cue then, the happy pairing of the 2014 Commonwealth Games with Festival 2014, a spectacular showcasing of entertainment and culture from across Scotland and the UK.
Trot down to the Glasgow Green Live Zone and immerse yourself in a world of live music performance, as Scotland and UK wide musicians perform a varied bill of rock, pop, jazz, classical, hip hop and traditional sounds. Be sure to head down to the Kelvingrove Bandstand - they've got an impressive roster of live music acts throughout the festival, too.
Or, if you're after something a little more interactive, catch the Merchant City Festival, which will host a talented array of street performers, unusual shops and international markets. Otherwise, BBC @ The Quay is a pop up festival experience located just outside the BBC Scotland HQ - expect all sorts of fun from BBC networks, comedians, athletes and musicians.
After all this darn sport, it's nice to have a little bit of culture injected into life in Glasgow. Festival 2014 runs parallel to the Commonwealth Games, between 24th July and 3rd August 2014.
