As organisers describe it, "It's in Glasgow, it lasts a week, and it's about beer." Glasgow Beer Week is back for its third year and it's bigger, better and brew-ier than ever. Running from 1st - 9th November, beer themed events will take place in bars and pubs across the city. The festival aims to bring beer drinkers together, create a buzz about beer in Glasgow and put Glasgow's beer scene on the map.
As well as celebrating some of the breweries operating in the city and around Scotland, the festival also includes quirkier events from food and brew pairings, brewing demos, movie screenings and pub crawls. Brewers, pubs, and punters have come together to create some real gems on this year's calendar. Among the highlights this year is Beer Hunter, the first Scottish screening of this fascinating documentary will take place (with some beers, of course )in West Brewery on Sunday, November 3rd. Other gems include an informal cask workshop at Blackfriars to learn the secrets of real ale, and how to handle cask-conditioned beer and a vegan food and beer event in BrewDog with a vegan beer stew tasting. For beefier beer buffs, new Argyle Street bar and restaurant, The Gannet will offer a beer braised special for the week that's in it, and Burger Meats Bun will team up with Hippo Beers to offer some great booze and burger pairings. On the 7th and 8th of November the Society of Independent Brewers Festival (a festival within a festival) will bring brewers together for an all-Scotland tasting and competition, in Pollockshaws Burgh Hall.
