Donald MacLeod, owner of the popular Cathouse and Garage nightclubs, turns his attention away from Glasgow's buzzing nightlife and instead shifts his focus on the city's ever-growing culinary scene, bringing the strEAT Food Festival to The Briggait.
The finer details are yet to be released but the event will bring together a number of food and alcohol vendors from all over Scotland for a monthly celebration of fantastic food, delicious drinks and even better music.
The event's organisers have already teamed up with some of the biggest street food companies for their opening event, taking place on the last weekend of September. Expect to see the likes of Babu Street Kitchen, Fresh Revolution, Mighty Mexican and Firebird Pizza, all putting their culinary skills to the test as they delicately balance exquisite food on flimsy looking paper plates.
And let's not forget the brilliant music that'll be on display. Glasgow has a reputation for producing some of Britain's most acclaimed performers, such as Belle & Sebastian and Chvrches; the city's musicians are bursting full of talent and all have something to say. To offer its guests the complete urban experience, the monthly market will showcase the city's brightest up-and-coming musicians and performers. From the quavering notes of a jazz saxophone to the twanging sounds of an acoustic guitar, the team behind this venture hope to offer an idyllic day of beautiful sights, exquisite tastes and melodic sounds.
The strEAT Food Festival takes place on the final weekend of each month. The first weekend of festivities will take place on the 26th and 27th September, from 12pm to 11pm.
