Glasgow music venues are getting the Oxfam treatment this weekend as they take part in the 2013 Oxjam Takeover. The Oxjam Festival is kicking off in venues across the UK this month, calling on local bands to make a global impact with their music. And four of Glasgow's best music venues are getting in on the act.
Nice 'n' Sleazy, The Art School, Broadcast and Buff Club will all be hosting Oxjam gigs this Sunday, 20th of October, to raise money for the incredible Oxfam cause. Each venue will have a bunch of local bands churning out the tunes to the do-good crowd, and one wrist band allows you to move between venues like tents at a festival. And with all the venues niftily located near eachother, you'll be able to catch all your favourite Glasgow bands.
Music fans can move between the venues to ensure they never miss out on their favourite acts.
Broacast's Oxjam effort will be a family affair, taking place in the afternoon. With a warm, welcoming folky vibe from 2pm, music will be supplied by Luther The Bhear, Ryan Morcombe and Kev Mac.
At Nice 'n' Sleazy, things are going to be louder, harder and faster, with local gems like Lazarus, Sigma Logic, Blue Nova and Forest Fires bringing their sounds to the stage from 6pm.
The Art School Union will of course, be keeping it alternative with a bunch of alt and indie rockers playing the Sauchiehall Street student bar from 6pm, among them, Woodenbox, Fata Morgana, Alavano and Harry and the Hendersons.
And rocking us into the wee ones, Buff Club will have the amps up loud for twelve whole hours, as they work the long shift from 3pm until 3am, with a mixed bag of monster performers like Galleries, These Little Kings, Mystical Creatures, Paper Crowns and The Little Illusions.
So whether you come for the music, or come for the cause, make sure you come along and catch one of these great Glasgow Oxjam Takeover gigs this weekend. Not only is it a chance to send bit of doh Oxfam's way, but it's also an opportunity to hear some of the best, up-and-coming Glasgow talent, all in one place. With more bands and veneus likely to be added closer to the date, watch this space for more info on the Glasgow Oxjam Takeover.
