A Glasgow favourite, Sub Club stormed the votes this year for us to award it with the much coveted Best Club gong. 25 years on from launching, Sub Club is still throwing on forward-thinking nights for its solid following. Couple that with a world-class sound system and vibrating dance-floor, and you've got yourself one helluva nightclub.
Ok so let's face it, with our oh-so-lovable weather getting outside for a tipple or two can be a welcomed rarity. That's why, come the summer, picking a bar with the right outside area is key. Fairy-light laden and charming to boot, the award for Best Beer Garden goes to Brel in Ashton Lane!
Now, we can't help feel that these guys had a slight advantage; it's not every day a pub can brew its own beers! Fueled by the very brewery it sits within, West Brewery is a cosy but impressive pub located within the historic Templeton Carpet Factory Building. Boasting Scottish brews, local hearty grub....and one heck of a beer garden, the 2014 award for Best Pub goes to West Brewery!
Gramophones, table-tennis, old-school consoles and slamming drinks? YES. The Hillhead Bookclub has firmly established itself as a Glasgow institution and thanks to your votes has been crowned the Best Bar of the year! Its quirky decor, fun time tunes and expertly mixed cocktails make this West End favourite a deserved winner indeed. Now, who's for boozy game on the mega-drive?
Burlesque to cabaret, music to magicians - Riding Room's got it all. The quirky decor and on-stage frolics have earned it your winner of the Best Experience 2014! Easily shocked or offended beware, the Riding Room is good for a downright naughty night out in Glasgow.
With an ever-bustling roster, Sauchiehall Street's Broadcast has seen plenty of live action over the past year. From local talent to touring acts, the music here is fresh, innovative and always banging. Among tough competition, your votes mean that Broadcast scoops the Best Live Music Venue Award this year.
Stylish and chic with sumptuous drinks; it's easy to see why you guys voted Metropolitan in Merchant Square as your Best Cocktail Bar 2014. Overlooking the twinkling lights of Merchant Square, Metropolitan is constantly praised for its sophisticated ambience, exclusive cocktails and smooth vibes.
Split personalities aren't usually a good thing, but you better believe that us and the rest of Glasgow have fallen in love with Hummingbird's many alter-egos. Though quaint and lovely in parts, Hummingbird's soiree side is a whole other story. Party tunes, an up-for-it crowd and a disco ball John Travolta would be proud of; the winner of Best Fun Time Party Bar goes to Hummingbird!
Gorgeous food and party tunes won the hearts and minds of Glasgow in 2013, as tasty pop up Street Food Cartel scoop the Best Pop Up 2014 Award. The event is all about communal dining, delectable street food and one big party. We hope to see more of these guys in 2014!
