Description
Nestled in the heart of the West End by the River Kelvin is Glasgow Botanic Gardens; home to the famous A-listed Kibble Palace, a stunning curvilinear glasshouse designed by John Kibble, it also houses the national collection of tree ferns.
The green space looks after around 9000 different types of plants from Southern Africa, Australasia, Temperate Asia and South America, and the gardens have been around since 1817 when Glaswegian botanist Thomas Hopkirk discovered them.
Within the grounds, you'll find a children's play area and a tearoom that's open daily from 10am until 5pm, serving fresh sandwiches, cakes and afternoon tea in pretty surroundings.
