Something of a city centre institution, The Pot Still is about as steeped in history and tradition as a Glasgow pub can get. Originally a wine and spirit merchants, the Hope Street building has been a public house for almost 150 years. Claiming the largest collection of malt whiskies in Scotland - they've over 800 to choose from - The Pot Still serves a host of regular drinkers and local professionals, as well as reams of whiskey tourists from all over the world. Rumour has it, a bunch of Japanese business men once flew up from London for the day, just to taste a rare malt they could only find at The Pot Still.
As a proper Glasgow pub, the decor here is fuss free, white walls that have been painted and repainted dozens of times, weathered Chesterfield benches, low stools, dark woods and glass panelling. A women's whiskey club and regular malt tastings means novices are just as welcome as whiskey connoisseurs; with a friendly, warm, family-run atmosphere, this place is bustling seven nights a week.
