THIS VENUE IS NO LONGER OPENING ON BYRES ROAD

It looks like Ting Thai Caravan are set to open a new eatery on Byres Road, taking over from legendary music store Fopp. The casual street food restaurant already has a successful site in Edinburgh, so it seems only natural that they’ve decided to head West.

We can expect the former shop to undergo a complete renovation, redecorated with the brand’s signature low-key aesthetic of wooden benches, exposed brickwork and fuss-free eating to reflect the affordable prices.

With regard to the menu, diners can choose from an extensive selection of cheap eats, including traditional Thai snacks, soups and rice bowls. Of course, there are noodles, and lots of them, ranging from the classic pad thai to lesser-known khao sawy talay, made with crispy egg noodles and fresh seafood. Curries also take centre-stage with the gaeng kiew wan gai, an authentic green curry with chicken and eggplant, a firm favourite. Top it off with a cold Singha beer, and that’s one authentic experience.
