As one of the oldest family restaurants in Glasgow, La Lanterna is one of the city's favourites. Originally opened in 1970, the spot is famous for its comforting Italian dishes and has even won several awards for their homely cuisine. Now, La Lanterna is expanding as they take over the former spot of La Parmigana in the West End, details are being kept under wraps but expect the same renowned quality of home-style cooking.

With daily freshly baked bread, amazing fish dishes and homemade pasta, it's no surprise that La Lanterna is going strong after more than 40 years. And now the little gem is opening a second branch on Great Western Road, in the former spot La Parmigiana. There's not much information yet, but expect the same formula that's worked for decades, with meat dishes cooked in a traditional way, a great selection of wine and even a few cocktails.
