Description
Abyssinia delivers traditional Ethiopian cuisine to Leeds.
The modest restaurant is slightly off the beaten track and is all exposed brickwork and white tiles, with a dash here and there of traditional decorations. The food is the main event of the establishment and it’s become a bit of a hotspot for Leeds’ vegan and vegetarian communities thanks to their extensive menu featuring a tonne of meat-free dishes – though there’s plenty of other dishes for meat-eaters too.
This can range from the Beyaynetu, which features a variety of vegan curries, to Doro Wot, a tender chicken leg marinated in herbs and spices. They also serve up Ethiopian coffee that is freshly roasted and traditionally served, with a colourful Ethiopian coffee ceremony that is the highlight of many people's meal.
