We Reviewed Tapas With Unlimited Sangria At This Bottomless Brunch Twist In Leeds

DesignMyNight Drops By | DesignMyNight

Long gone are the days when bottomless brunch was strictly an 11am affair, with one sad egg on toast followed by ungodly amounts of prosecco. Now there's everything from roasts to dinners swilled down by unlimited drinks too. But for the fanciest of us all? A Leeds tapas twist. La Bodega offers this at Spanish bottomless lunch (£40 per person), so I went along hoping for a sophisticated way of spending my Saturday afternoon pennies.

La Bodega Leeds Reviews | DesignMyNight

Be transported to the narrow backstreets of Spain with this Leeds tapas restaurant.

Part of Ibérica Leeds, La Bodega is found in the basement of the popular tapas destination. With its cracked concrete floors and paint lightly peeling off the walls, this place had that cosy feel of a rustic Spanish bar. Natural light flooded the space and brought attention to the carefully placed pops of colour throughout the venue, creating a charming aesthetic that transports you straight into the heart of a Spanish city. The restaurant managed to be both intimate and generous at the same time, making it ideal for parties of varying sizes. Even the toilet was beautifully done, with pretty tiles from head to toe.

We got straight on with ordering, checking out the bottomless choices of draft beer, cava, wine, and red or white sangria. After sampling the cava and deciding I’d had smoother in my time, I moved on to a white wine sangria for the remainder of the meal. Fresh, fruity, sweet, and strong; it was easy to drink and served its purpose of getting us boozy. We were never left waiting long for service either - the staff were attentive and charming, topping us up when needed without interrupting our tipsy chats.

When the need for tapas bottomless brunch in Leeds strikes, head here for something different.

Compared to its sister restaurant Ibérica, La Bodega's lunch menu was small - comprised of just eight dishes - but there was a good variety of both meat and veggie-based options. Sampling everything but the salads, we went for a good mix of plates to share across the table. Aside from the champinones al jerez, a creamy mushroom dish that I didn’t think had much flavour to it, there wasn’t a single dish I wouldn’t recommend. The padron peppers were perfectly cooked and generously salted, while the patatas bravas were crispy with rich brava and aioli to die for. Our twice-cooked lamb melted in the mouth, causing every tastebud to sigh with pleasure, and the equally moreish croquetas didn't disappoint either. Completing our meal? Soft but well-fried calamares fritos. All portions here were generous but not overly so - ensuring we were left satisfied without being too stuffed.
