They say that punk is dead, but ‘they’ clearly haven’t been to The Baltic Social. This Liverpool stomping ground is home to the country’s very first punk-themed afternoon tea… and all diets are catered to.
While they may not be donning skinny tartan trousers and safety pins through their earlobes, the chefs here are definitely serving plates that are worth shouting about. Meat-filled favourites include the Korean sausage roll, sriracha mayo corn dog and bacon fries with salt and mayo. Of course, these are met with sweet treats like the aptly-named Blondie custard cream.
When it comes to plant-based options, this place is coming through with their peanut butter and cheese slider, taco cauliflower wings and chocolate orange brownie slice. Meanwhile, veggies can chow down on a blend of meat-free treats such as feta and mock-lamb Cornish pasty and cake slice Jammie dodger.
As for those all-important drinks? You’ll get a teapot filled with a cocktail or mocktail of your choosing, with the whole thing coming in at a reasonable £25.95 a head, God save The Social.
The Punk Afternoon Tea is available daily at The Baltic Social from midday, Saturday from 1pm and Sunday from 2pm. You can find them at 25-29 Parliament Street, Liverpool, L8 5RN. Looking for more afternoon tea ideas? Check out our guide to the best in Liverpool here.
