After wowing Anglesey with their Marram Grass offerings, the Barrie brothers are heading home to Liverpool to open a shiny new Royal Albert Dock restaurant.
Named Lerpwl (the Welsh word for Liverpool, pronounced ‘Lerpool’), the venue will be a nod to the boys’ strong links to North Wales. And the connection to Wales won’t stop there; the menu will be crafted using top quality Welsh produce paired with a range of international flavours. Think home-grown aged swine served with Italian white truffle.
Shooting to fame after appearing on BBC 2’s Great British Menu, head chef Ellis Barrie has been documenting the restaurant’s progress via Youtube vlogs. Behind the scenes tours reveal a huge industrial space complete with what will be an open kitchen and surrounding counter as well as a mezzanine level private dining space.
The brothers' plan for the space to become a vibrant and buzzing hub with lives DJs, as well as a huge selection of international wines and classic cocktails including palomas and old fashioneds.
