Fugitive Motel is one of Bethnal Green’s coolest new openings. Boasting LA-style interiors, long booths with ‘vacancy’ signs to invite others to sit with you and large windows lined with cacti, the bar is made complete with its wide selection of craft beer and freshly baked pizzas. After admiring the aesthetic of this slick joint on Instagram, we knew it was an essential visit.
Upon entry, Fugitive Motel has the kind of relaxed welcoming feel you want from your local boozer. With a diverse crowd of friends grabbing pints and young professionals working, the bar seemed to already be drawing in a decent crowd, despite only recently opening.
The menu of craft beer ranges from classic lagers to pale ales, I opted for a deliciously refreshing Easy Peeler and the zesty Citra Sour to accompany our small feast. We tucked into a deliciously gooey pizza each, with a side of triple cooked chips (£3.50) and vegetables with fresh red pepper dip (£4.50). My pizza, The Fugitive (£9.50) just happened to be vegan, and was a mouthwatering combination of red onion, delicately spiced harissa cauliflower, pickles and tahini dressing, cooked to perfection with a light, springy doughy base.
