Description
Deposing beer as the master of the craft drink in East London, Pomaio serves Italian craft wine in Brick Lane.
The interior matches the sophistication of the drinks with rich, dark furnishings, white walls laden with surrealist art pieces. The back bar displays the range of wines, which are supplied from small and independent vineyards in the heart of Italy’s wine country, with a blissful array of whites, reds and even orange wines. The list is perfect for connoisseurs, with bottles of Podere di Pomaio’s Prosenna IGT Sangiovese 2011 and Chianti Classico Riserva il Poggio 2006 on offer.
The menu is populated by small dishes, including Tuscan delicacies like bruschetta with truffle, quail's egg and prosciutto, and larger mains, like traditional polenta served with stewed wild boar, or chianina beef with spicy squid couscous. There’s also cheesecake made from cantucci biscotti base for afters.
