Description
The Detroit Players celebrate 50 years of a rock music classic. Prepare for a live performance of The Rolling Stones: Beggars Banquet.
The album was released in December 1968 and is generally regarded as their 'coming of age' moment, with all the music that followed in some way being a reflection of what happened in the studio that year. The tracklist includes rocky classics like 'Sympathy for the devil' and 'Street Fighting Man' alongside bluesy numbers 'Stray cat blues' and 'Prodigal Son'. In 2003, Beggars Banquet was ranked 58 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of all Time; hardly suprising, as it arguably confirmed their status as the greatest rock 'n' roll band in musical history.
Beggars' Banquet is a complete album, touching all bases and covering plenty of important themes from the time including violence, revolution and defiance. To celebrate this staggering creative masterpiece, a collection of London's finest musicians joins us in Brixton for a live performance of the entire album, cover-to-cover, 50 years and 5 days after it was first heard on record.
Doors open at 7:30pm.
