Canova Hall

Description

Canova Hall breathes new air into one of Brixton’s most commemorated buildings on 250 Ferndale Road, SW9 8BQ. Celebrating one of London’s most exciting areas, Canova Hall honours the provenance of what used to be the beloved worker’s hall of Britain’s first department store Le Bon Marché across the road. Canova Hall and its eclectic all-day and late-night offering welcomes in locals and all those visiting the neighbourhood to indulge in the buzzand grandeur of a timeless old market canteen.

All day and night the food is centred on natural fuel with an authentic wood oven imported from Modena, Italy, delivering quality, simple food. Everything on the menu is made in house every day from their 48 hour fermented pizza dough to their homemade pasta. They use the best ingredients they can and cook from scratch. They brought their pizzas from their sister bar Martello Hall in Hackney, including their best sellers Rock Star Margherita and Smokey Bandit alongside some new pizzas like The Hot Don with ‘nduja, finocchiona, pickled chillies, hot red pesto and oregano.

These guys also host a fabulous bottomless brunch - voted one of the best in London by Grazia, Elle and CN Traveller. There are bottomless drinks over two hours, with bubbly cocktails, prosecco, margarita punch and beer to choose from. You can also mix-and-match on your table.

'Embodies everything bottomless brunch should be’ Elle Magazine
‘The go-to for bottomless brunches’ Grazia Magazine
‘Arriving at a table full of drink is always a good sign at bottomless brunch and with this two-hour brunch there's no waiting around for top-ups’ CN Traveller

Evenings at Canova Hall mirror Brixton’s life and soul as cocktail trolleys offer gin and all the accompaniments for making your own drinks. If you'd prefer to be waited on you can ‘Book a Bartender’ and they will conjure up a mix of creative cocktails for you at your table as young London DJ’s and live bands play music into the early hours. They also host Cocktail Masterclasses for parties of all sizes. Their day-time is as important at their evenings, with a relaxed workspace environment offering hot-desking, fast Wi-Fi and great coffee.

The team’s love of gin has by no means been diminished - having perfected their distilling skills with their on-site gin distillery ‘Nicola’ at Martello Hall, they are going bigger and better at Brixton with a new bespoke still called ‘Grace’. Those looking to take Canova Hall’s distinctive gin flavours home will be able to do so with small batches of both the Canova Gin, Martello Gin and Serata Hall being sold across all sites.

Open 7 days a week from early morning to 2am (Friday and Saturday), Canova Hall will cater to your whole day. Be it the wage earners hot-desking with the bottomless coffee flowing or the late night revellers sipping on cocktails whilst dancing to deep dug vinyl gems.

Canova Hall - London Restaurant Review

Brixton is seemingly the latest stop for London's trend train, and while local aggravation over venue closures are just and fair, that hasn't stopped its property being snapped up by those looking to capitalise on this new millennial territory. And while I agree that some additions to the area are ludicrous…
