One of the crown jewels of the new Vintry & Mercer hotel near Mansion House, DND, shorthand for Do Not Disturb, is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar. Inspired by the US prohibition era bars, the interiors are replete with vintage cocktails and even hand-beaded images of the Ziegfeld Follies chorus girls. The decor sits heavily on the side of luxury with rich plum-coloured banquette seating and velvet stools. Alongside a fabulous drinks menu of barrel-aged and house cocktails, DND also serves a range of delicious small plates.

The new Vintry & Mercer hotel, due to open early next year, is shaping up to be quite the epicurean sanctuary, from the Mediterranean restaurant on the ground floor to the rooftop terrace. DND, the hotel's US prohibition-era-style cocktail bar is the epicentre of this sophisticated den of hedonism. Inspired by the illegal speakeasies that grew out of New York's backstreets in the 1920s, DND - an acronym for Do Not Disturb - with its deep red furniture in rich leathers and sensuous velvet, is a perfect spot for an intimate date or post-dinner nightcap.
