What they say:
With polka dotted table cloths, the menu written on a chalk board and light bulbs hanging exposed from the high ceiling there is an evident charm and ambition to the otherwise industrial space of this new pop-up bar. Dalston is at the forefront of übercool, quirky bar concepts and Rita's Bar & Dining is another bright ruby on Stoke Newington road. Perched above Birthdays for a month and possibly longer, Rita's is named in honour of the two Margarita slushie machines that are a must-try when you're working your way through their otherwise traditional cocktail list.
They serve the food you would expect to find at an old fashioned fun fair at the American Mexican border with the BBQ at the centre of the action serving ox heart and fish tacos, shrimp rolls, ginger and soy chicken wings- to name a few choices only.
What we say:
The selection of dishes could have meant Rita's was simply going to be a more personal version of Nandos or KFC but like the difference between platonic love and passion, Rita's tacos and barbeque treats soar to inspiring heights. And with prices around £4-£6.50 it's easy to understand what the hype is all about.
