What they say:
Barsmith is a new concept bar from up-and-coming booze barons Ben Avigdori and Lawrence Santi of Marylebone Leisure Group, who also currently own The Marylebone, The Princess of Wales and Nonna Rosa in London. Expanding their empire, they have locked onto a great business formula in an attempt to satisfy a niche in what could have been considered an already flooded market. Using spirit infusions created in their own London laboratory, they have produced a short list of a few tried and tested delicious cocktails, all priced at the very reasonable £7.95. Ingredients will be sourced daily from nearby New Covent Garden Market, so every drink made will be as cool and refreshing as the concept which created it.
What we say:
The idea might seem like an obvious one, but Barsmith's inclination towards making accessibly priced, well made and good tasting drinks is such a neglected concept in London's bar industry that it appears revelatory. The reasonable pricing and capsule-sized cocktail menu doesn't mean that Barsmith are scrimping on creativity however - from the mention of an in-house mixology laboratory, you can be certain that you couldn't knock up the cocktail in your hand at home.
The interior design of this bar is equally refreshing; no fleetingly fashionable taxidermy animals in the corner, or even Grandma's kitsch old lampshades; just whitewashed walls, a long bronze bar and a few wooden tables for resting empty glasses on. We are sure there will be a lot of empty glasses knocking about - their cocktails (Bellini Flower, Milky Way and Apple Cider Mojito to name but a few) sound delicious.
