2 reviews - Party Bar
Description
Previously a commercial launderette, Hangar has ditched the dirty socks and Daz to become a dynamic creative and party space. Boasting a 720 capacity event space, canteen/bar and a variety of music and art spaces, this place is a buzzing Hackney hub.
The much loved brainchild of Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien, all the spaces are intended to get the creative juices flowing. A distinctly warehouse-y vibe harks back to the site's less glamorous former existence. However, it has been re-incarnated with consummate style. The canteen/bar is more chicly stark brasserie than school dinners. Lights dangle from the exposed ceiling, the tables are scrubbed, wood and the occasional well placed fern adds some vibrancy. Surprisingly, the effect is inviting and comfortable as well as cool. Venture downstairs and you'll find a raw basement space that has hosted the likes of Joy Orbison.
