With a background of farming and fishing, teaching bush survival and foraging, Shane's wanted to open a restaurant that incorporated these passions and shows - without being in your face - what New Zealand philosophy is to food.
More than that they are bringing the environment in and letting you interact with it in a simple relaxed environment. They are about wild meats, line caught fish, foraging and seasonal produce. Shane's has the best steaks, venison, rabbit and wood pigeon, as well as line caught fish and oyster specials.
